Why do people get tattoos?

More and more people get tattoos. Why do the people get tattoos? What could be their reasons of hurting themselves with a permanent mark or design made on the skin even if it is very painful?
People think tattoos look cool. Some tattoos do look cool, but some are flat out ugly. Also, people get tattoos as a mark of self-expression. Tattoos are a form to show others who they are and what they believe in are.
Love is another reason why people get tattoos. They want to show and let others know who they love and how they feel. People choose to have the lover’s name for a permanent mark and tattooed on their skin as a remembrance.
From my view, I won't get tattoos. Although some of the tattoos are really beautiful, I think it would be better if people could think twice before they get it. Otherwise, it is very troublesome, if you feel regret in the future. The most important thing is people should understand what the purpose of their tattoo.

Why Breakfast Is Important

Believe it or not, breakfast is the most important meal of a day. Some people skip breakfast to lose weight, but it's usually a bad idea. Studies have shown that people who don’t eat breakfast every day actually end up gaining weight. They also feel tired in the day and eat more food. Studies have also shown that children who eat breakfast perform better in school. It works that way for adults, too. In any case, skipping breakfast is probably a bad idea. If you really don't like to eat breakfast, you can split eat two smaller meals. Eat a boiled egg or a piece of toast at home, and an hour or two later, eat an apple or a cup of milk. Anyway, don’t eat nothing in the morning. Healthy people never skip breakfast.

A Memorable place

When I was a teenager, I used to spend my summer vacations at my aunt’s place. She live in a church where is in Liouying Township(柳營鄉). The church is very big and has a beautiful garden. I like this place very much. There are a lot of things in such a beautiful garden. There is a pond in the center of the garden. A white Jesus statue stands in the middle of the pond. There is a small white bridge to connect the pond to the Jesus statue. Sometimes we fish in the pond. Around the lake, there are two or three mango trees and longan trees. Of course, there are green grass and flowers swaying in the wind around the pond. When the weeds are too long, we will weed the garden. I like this place because this is a place where the sun is always shining. I think everyone would like to visit this place. This is the best place ever.

The most extracurricular books of high school students reading are not comic books or novels but “facebook”. One for the internal survey of reading was done by 3715 high school students in Taiwan. There are more than 60 percent of the high school students in Taiwan get information from the "face book" every day, and one in every four people is online more than two hours a day. Council for Cultural Affairs Chairman Ovid Tzeng(曾志朗) said the new technology affects different reading habits. New technology is changing the way young people's reading habits, the extent of positive and negative are possible. We should help our children and young people to improve reading habits about real books.

An Expensive Lesson

Spending money on lessons makes me never to forget. I learned that before leaving my motorcycle I should take out the bag from the storage box. Four years ago, on my way home after work, I entered 7-11 to buy some beverages. I only took purse to 7-11. I left my bag in the storage box. When I left 7-11, I can’t find my bag in the storage box. My mind went blank at that time. First, I tried to recall where my bag was. I was sure that I took out from my company. Then I rode my motorcycle home. There was only one possibility: “My bag was stolen!” I was angry and shocked. After I made sure the bag was stolen, I rode home as soon as possible. I suspended my credit card and cell phone. Then, I reported to the police. About four hours later, I went home at last. Since then on, I always take out my bag from the storage box no matter how much time left.

Automobile recycling plants

On November 5th morning, my boy friend took me to the automobile recycling plants in Dasi(大溪). That is my first time to the automobile recycling plants. Automobile recycling plants is a good place looking for car parts. Many car owners go there to buy second-hand and cheap car parts. After my boy friend bought a second-hand car, he went to the automobile recycling plants frequently. He always say that the automobile recycling plants is just like the department store where woman like to go. The automobile recycling plants is man’s department store for car. At there, I saw many kinds of car parts. That was really an eye-opening experience of me. Although I don’t know the car, I still enjoy the first experience in the automobile recycling plants.

Punishment

More and more parents support “No Corporal Punishment”. They think the children should be protected and respected. We can’t hurt our children’s body and mind. Opinions differ on this matter. I support “No Corporal Punishment”, but not “No Punishment”.
From “Wikipedia”, We know that the Corporal punishment is a form of physical punishment that involves the deliberate infliction of pain as retribution for an offence, or for the purpose of disciplining or reforming a wrongdoer, or to deter attitudes or behaviors deemed unacceptable. The term usually refers to methodically striking the offender with an implement, whether in judicial, domestic, or educational settings.
Why do we have to punish our children? Because we have to teach them what is right and what is wrong, punishments should be one of the ways we teach. Punishment doesn’t equal Hurt. It is just a way to teach someone to know Right and Wrong.

Tourism English Class on November 27th

Our Tourism English Class teacher is Cindy Huang, who has many different licenses. Her class is always interesting and we always enjoy it. November 27th, she invited a professor – Dr. Kenny Kuo to our class. Before the class, we prepared some kind of tableware. Dr. Kenny Kuo taught us about International Etiquette, such as tableware using, table setting, wearing and so on. Dr. Kenny Kuo is humorous and professional. The most impressive part of the class is that he taught us how to use knife and fork eating shrimps and bananas. That is amazing. I thought I should buy many shrimps and bananas to practice. When the class was finished, it was 5:40 P.M.. Everyone was very happy and having not given full expression(意猶未盡). Next two weeks, Dr. Kenny Kuo will come to our class; we all expect to see him.

Pig’s Blood Cake

Taiwan is a wonderful country. There is much delicious food. I would like to introduce Taiwan night market food to my friends and foreigners. No matter where we are, we can also taste the different Taiwan night market food, just like the Stinky Tofu, Spring Rolls, Pig’s Blood Cakes and Pearl Milk Tea.

One kind of famous Taiwan night market food, Pig’s Blood Cake, is made from pig's or duck's blood with glutinous-rice. It has been chosen the strangest food in the world in 2009. Many foreigners don't eat it because of the compositions. They think it is very nauseating.

In Taiwan, Pig's Blood Cake is served on a stick is a very popular snack at  night markets. The food stands put soy sauce on steamed Pig's Blood Cakes and then put thick peanut flour and some parsley on them. Then, we can have a delicious snack time. By the way, the fried ones or cooked in a hot pot are also very popular.  Although it's strange to foreigners, the "Pig's Blood Cake" will always be the best snack of Taiwanese.

Reflections of viewing Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer” was a true story book about Bethany Hamilton, a young female surfer who continued to surf after her arm was bitten off by a tiger shark. The book was made into a 2011 feature film, also called Soul Surfer.

The movie is affecting, because Bethany’s strong, brave, and soulful. Bethany can be strong under the stress. I think her families gave her very powerful support. Many people want to hide what they thinking but their eyes show strange, it was the most injured.

One-hand surfing is very difficult to image! So many questions ran out in my mind, but the fact that this is not a problem, because Bethany overcame all. Bethany was almost to become my idol. Not only impressive courage, her empathy makes me endless admiration. She was so young, calm and confident. I'm so ashamed! From this movie, I learned about Love, Courage and Never Give Up!

I-phone

The development of the I-Phone began in 2005 with Apple CEO Steve Jobs' direction. An I-phone can be a video camera, media player, a game player and an Internet client. It can send documents and receive e-mails, and has both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. I had an I-phone 4 from a gift. It is truly very convenient. There are many useful apps from the App Store, which has over 500,000 "apps" approved by Apple. These apps have different functions, including games, reference, GPS navigation, social networking, security and advertising for television shows, films, and celebrities. I can use MSN, What'sapp and facebook, get e-mails, plays games, and so on. I love it.

Guppy

A Cat is my favorite animal, but I can’t keep it. Guppy is another kind of my favorite animals and I can keep it! From two years ago, I kept some guppies in my room. They are very colorful. When I look at them swimming, I forget my worries and sadness. They always swim leisurely. The guppy prefers a hard water aquarium with a temperature between 25 and 27 °C. In winter, I have to put heating rods in water. My friends saw my guppy; they also wanted to keep some. I sent them some little guppies from mine. I hoped all guppies will grow up healthy.

Farewell

October 26th is a farewell for my boss’s mother. The farewell held at the Taipei second mortuary(台北市立第二殯儀館). Two weeks ago, I made a MV with some pictures and words to recall her. Early in the October 26th morning, we arrived at the Taipei second mortuary and helped them to take photos. So many relatives and friends came to join the farewell. They sent flowers, fruit and Elegiac couplet. Everyone felt very sad over the death of my boss’s mother. They were crying when the farewell began.

We’ll go trick-or-treating on October 28th . Our students and their families will put on masks and costumes, and walk to the 福壽park. We will a modeling competition. The student with the most horrible and scary style will get a special gift.

Internet Scam Targets Romantics

Last month, I saw some news. One of them shocked me. It was about a new online scam that targets people looking for love online. After that night by watching news, I feel terrible. I added Dr. Liu(劉淑貞) to be my facebook friend. Then, I saw some news on her facebook. After she reported an incident to the police, she also went to some TV interview shows and told to everyone that she believed and loved “David” forever. She will be “David’s wife” in the future. In my opinion, we truly know that is an Internet Scam. But Dr. Liu didn’t accept anymore. Internet scam targets people online. I am sure that Dr. Liu had been lied. We have some telephone numbers, including “165”. That is a kind of number to help who cheated. We should be more smart and careful.

Travel

I like to travel. I can see many beautiful places or things in different countries. I also can relax when I am traveling. I think travel is very exciting and interesting. Taiwan is a wonderful country. There are so many beautiful places in Taiwan. I have travelled many places in Taiwan. Of all the places that I have travelled , I like Houtong(侯硐) most. Why do I like it best? It is because there are so many cats in Houtong(侯硐). Last June, I went to Houtong(侯硐) with my boy friend. Many people visited Houtong(侯硐) because of the cats. We wree no exception. We saw so many cute cats there and took a lot of pictures, certainly. I like Houtong(侯硐) very much. I hope I will travel there soon.

My favorite animal

What kind of animals do you like the most? Is it a dog, a cat, a rabbit or a mouse? My favorite animal is a cat. Why do I like it the most? The reason is because it is not only cute and independent but also it loves clean very much. It can help people to catch mousse. It is very smart. It can take care itself. It never bothers people in our busy time. A cat makes people happy. It always stays quiet with you when you are along. In short, my favorite animal is a cat. Although I can’t keep a cat, I still love cats very much. I hope I can keep a cat in the future.

My dream & job

When I was young, I used to want to be a teacher. I dreamed of having my own classroom in a school. I had no brothers and sisters to play with me, so I always played with myself in my childhood. I always played teaching games. I put some small chairs in the living room to image someone in class and I was the teacher. The chief reason why I want to be a teacher is that I love children very much. Children are more innocent than adults. I can use simple words to get along with them. Now, I am a teacher in a Day-care Center(安親班). Although it’s not a real school, I am happy to work here to be with children. I love my job, and I hope to be a better and better teacher in the future.

Homework for Writing p.5 Discussion

Q: If you write to someone who has a different background or experience from yours, what do you need to do?

There are sixty million people in the world. Everyone comes from different family. We have many different backgrounds or experiences. Before we write to someone who has a different background or experience from mine, we need to know something. First, we must be polite anytime. Everyone likes polite people. Second, it’s not suitable for asking others about their personal questions. We have to respect others’ privacy. We need to know the common sense as those.
